Today a short vision moment was held with the main teachers. I showed some tests that I made of the first scene, cube and sphere moving separately. Some remarks were given with each test. In general, there needs more exploration and exploitation of the set up. Play around with the lens, depth of the figures, textures of the chalk paper, were some ideas. Below some stills of the tests will be displayed so it is easier to see what shot is discussed. Scene 1 shot 1: Meeting - Cube moves in In this shot, the cube moves from the right to the left side of the frame. The test animation went smoothly but is very linear. In order to give this cube more character, Kris pointed out that I should play more with the weight of the cube. When is his mass shifting, on his highest or lowest point from the ground? The linear movement shows a stable and active way of moving forward. It has a clear motivation, moving forward towards a destination. While in the first shot it is not clear yet what motive the cube could have, it is preferable to give it more of a heavier presence. This will also be heard in the audio: heavy and almost menacing sounds for the cube. Scene 1 shot 2: Meeting - Sphere rolls back and forth The sphere rolls back and forth, being nervous and tensed about what is coming its way. It has a sense of uneasiness, which causes it to move fast from the left back to the right and this cycle continues as it stays in a very small space. Nothing special to be remarked here. Scene 2 shot 2: Prospecting - Sphere rolls and sets up spikes In this shot, the sphere rolls away from the chasing cube. It goes quite steady and suddenly its spikes pop out to scare the cube. The test did not give me satisfaction, as it should show stirring anger from the sphere, but instead accelerates to make a sudden stop and put up the spikes. Here, the teachers pointed out that the trajectory or rolling cycle of the sphere should be more proactive in the end. So the anticipation of the spikes coming out is bigger. |
